24 / 10 / 2024

The XXI Social Innovation Forum was held on 17th and 18th October at the Visitor Reception Centre in Cordoba, under the title ‘Towards fairer, more sustainable and inclusive models’. This event brought together fifteen social entities of national reference, providing a space to debate the challenges and opportunities in the social care sector.

The Forum was opened by Blanca Torrent, First Deputy Mayor of Córdoba, Ángela Amate, President of Futuro Singular Córdoba, and José Luis Laguna, President of the Social Innovation Forum. During the conference, key issues were discussed such as the new emerging models in the provision of support, inspired by the recent descriptions of intellectual disability (AIDD, 2021) and the MOCA Model (Model of Quality of Life and Supports).

Uno de los momentos más relevantes del Foro fue la intervención de Ignacio Aizpún, director general de ATAM, quien presentó su libro “El tercer estadio: historia de la transformación digital de una organización social”.

Among the most salient issues, the community participation approach, the technical potential of organizations and the capacity to measure the real impact of the support provided were addressed. In addition, issues of vital importance for social entities were discussed, such as the funding deficit that affects the sustainability of many centres and the labour challenges related to recruitment and retention of talent.

One of the highlights of the Forum was the intervention of Ignacio Aizpún, CEO of ATAM, who presented his book ‘El tercer estadio: historia de la transformación digital de una organización social’ (The third stage: history of the digital transformation of a social organization).

In his speech, Aizpún shared ATAM’s experience in the digital transformation process, highlighting how the association has transformed itself to adapt to a world that has been altered by technology.

Another intervention of great interest was that of Gabriel Pérez Alcalá, President of the Social Council of Córdoba, who offered an economic perspective on the present and future of social organizations in the legal and economic context of Spain.

Conclusions and next challenges

The Forum concluded with a presentation of the main challenges facing social organizations, highlighting the urgent need to move towards more inclusive and sustainable models. At the close of the event, it was announced that the next edition, the XXII Social Innovation Forum, will be organized in 2025 by the San Cebrián Foundation under the direction of Eva del Río.
